Tolitoli, globalnewsnusantara.id – The Tolitoli Regency Government officially released the first shipment of silica rock via barge at the Abaling Hamlet Jetty Port, Pulias Village, Ogodeide District. This shipment marks the first milestone in the development of silica as a superior regional commodity targeted for global market penetration. Wednesday (January 28, 2026)
The barge, operated by PT Kurnia Purnama Mineral (KPM), was carrying silica rock claimed to be of the highest quality in the world. Tolitoli silica is considered to have high purity, making it highly potential to meet the needs of various strategic international industries.
Silica is known to play a crucial role as a raw material for making high-quality glass, cement, and concrete. Furthermore, silica is used in the electronics industry as a material for making semiconductor wafers and as a key component in the production of ceramics, glasses, and abrasives.
The barge’s release was carried out directly by Tolitoli Regent H. Amran H. Yahya , accompanied by elements of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda). Present on the occasion were Regional Secretary Moh. Asrul Bantilan, Chairperson of the Tolitoli DPRD Hajja Sriyanti Daeng Parebba, members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), community leaders, and PT KPM management.
The CEO of PT Kurnia Purnama Mineral, H. Ashar Gamang, SE , stated that Tolitoli Regency has enormous mineral resource potential. He stated that Tolitoli has seven types of minerals that can be exploited, far more than Morowali Regency, which only has three.
“We are committed to conducting mining operations professionally, in compliance with regulations, and with environmental awareness. Furthermore, we prioritize empowering the local workforce,” said Ashar.
He emphasized that product quality is the main advantage of Tolitoli silica so that it can compete in the international market and provide added value to the regional economy.
The send-off ceremony concluded with a pantun delivered by the Tolitoli Regent, symbolizing the region’s hopes for progress. This momentum marked a new chapter in strengthening the non-metallic mineral mining sector in Tolitoli, while also cementing silica as a pillar of the export-oriented regional economy. (DWY)
